Study Reveals Interesting Divorce Trends
A new study released this month revealed interesting trends for divorce.
The study found that Asian women have the lowest rates of first-time divorce while African American women have the highest rates of first-time divorce. By using data from the U.S. Census of 2010, the researchers found that Asian women had a first-time divorce rate of 10 per 1,000 women while African American women had 30.4 divorces per 10,000 women.
Overall, the rate for first-time divorces amongst women is 17.4 percent across the nation. One positive note that came from the study was that the more educated a woman is, the less likely she is to file for divorce. The group that showed the highest divorce rate was women who had had some schooling after high school, but did not complete a bachelor's degree. Interestingly, however, the women with the lowest education and the highest education alike had similarly low first-divorce rates.
