Do you know how often a woman is beaten or assaulted in the United States? Studies show that every nine seconds, a woman becomes a victim of domestic violence (or suffers a repeat attack). American women are not the only women being abused by loved ones; one in three women around the world will be abused during her lifetime.
In America, domestic violence accounts for more injuries to women than rapes, muggings and car accidents combined. While most victims will suffer minor to serious abuse, about three women per day will lose their lives to domestic violence in America.
Additionally, it is reported that even if children are not abused themselves, they become silent witnesses to the tragedy. As many as ten children have seen an incident of domestic violence at least once in their lifetime.
