Terrell Owens Accused of Failure to Pay Child Support
Melanie Paige Smith is causing quite a stir in the football world by alleging that ex-husband Terrell Owens' has not been making his full child support payments each month.
According to the court papers filed by Smith on June 20, Owens has been negligent in fulfilling his monthly $5,000 payments to his ex-wife. When Randall Kessler, Smith's attorney, spoke with Owens' attorneys, he learned that the NFL player is now refusing to make the full payment. When asked about Smith's feelings towards Owens, Kessler stated that "she simply asks that he follow the order to which he agreed [...] Rather than discussing his situation with her or her lawyers first, he simply cut his child support."
The footballer is currently not playing for any team and, as a free agent, must wait until the NFL lockout has been resolved until he can be signed once again.
In addition to making his full child support payments, Smith is asking that Owens pay for her court costs as well to defend her case.
