News of Toddler's Death is Shocking

The death of a toddler is always shocking, but especially so when it is done at the hands of the father. Such is the horrible case of a 2-year-old girl that was killed by her father last week. Now that the case has gone public, so too has information that a state child agency opened up an investigation into the parents of the young girl just a year before her death.

With this recent death being discussed around the state, the commissioner of the state Department of Children and Families is now reviewing the current guidelines regarding domestic abuse. While this tragedy certainly cannot be undone, the commissioner can review how the department deals with active domestic violence cases. If another tragedy like this one can be prevented, the department has the power to change policies in order to save lives in the future.
